CEO Nuovoyance, Sebastopol, CA
Nouvoyance is an independent technology development and fabless semiconductor company that has developed PenTile® technology, in partnership with Samsung Electronics, for flat-panel display manufacturers and their IC suppliers to improve the brightness, resolution, contrast, and power consumption of flat-panel displays. PenTile technology was originally developed by Clairvoyante, Inc. Clairvoyante was founded in July 2000 by Ms. Brown Elliott. Ms. Brown Elliott theorized that display performance could be significantly improved by capitalizing on the principals of human color perception, which led her to develop PenTile® subpixel layouts and related image-processing algorithms. Samsung Electronics aquired Clairvoyante's assets in March 2008. Nouvoyance was founded in early 2008 as an independent enterprise to provide continued engineering support, research, and development of PenTile technology and other improvements to color displays. Ms. Brown Elliott is a 35-year veteran of the display and semiconductor industries, holding positions in R&D, manufacturing, and engineering management at Fairchild, Advanced Micro Devices, Planar Systems, and the Micro Display Corporation. Ms. Elliott has been granted more than 70 U.S patents. She holds a dual B.S. in Physics and Psychology from Excelsior College, University of the State of New York. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Dynamic Eye and is a Visiting Fellow at Nottingham Trent University in the UK. A commercial pilot and flight instructor, Ms. Brown Elliott is strongly interested in education and encouraging young people to pursue careers in science and technology. She has worked with the Stanford Graduate School of Business for several years, as a mentor to women students interested in pursuing an entrepreneurial career in high tech.
