Ms. Murphy is president and chief executive officer of Murphy Consulting, Inc., a firm that provides corporate governance, workforce development, and retention services to corporations, professional firms, and non-profit entities. Prior to that, Ms. Murphy was group managing partner for client services and a member of the senior leadership team at Plante & Moran, PLLP, the 11th largest CPA and consulting firm in the country. Ms. Murphy serves on the board of directors of Kelly Services Inc. (NASDAQ: KELYA, KELYB) and on the board of Vision Service Plans (VSP), the largest vision insurer in the country with sales approximating $4 billion, including operations in China and Italy to manufacture and distribute frames globally, a network of labs to fabricate eyeglasses and software to support optometric practices. She is a qualified financial expert and chairs the audit committee on both these boards. She is also chair of the St. John Health System board of directors, chair of the United Way of Southeastern Michigan board of directors, and past chair of the Detroit Regional Chamber board of directors. In 2006 - 2007, she served as only the third woman to chair the Board of directors of the American Institute of CPAs, and was named 'Woman CPA of the Year' by the American Woman's Society of CPAs in 2007. Ms. Murphy also received national recognition in Business Finance's '2006 Influencers: 60 Authoritative Voices.' In 2005, she was named among the 'Top 100 Most Influential Practitioners' by CPA Magazine and the ‘Top 100 Most Influential People by Accounting Today.
